Create questions with “est-ce que” in French
In French, questions can be formed by adding “est-ce que” to the beginning of an affirmative sentence.
The structure is as follows:
Est-ce que + subject + verb + the rest of the sentence
Example
“Tu aimes la France.” (affirmative sentence)
By adding “est-ce que” at the beginning of the sentence, it becomes:
“Est-ce que tu aimes la France ?” (question)
Create questions with an interrogative word + est-ce que
It is possible to add an interrogative word before ‘est-ce que’: Pourquoi (why), Où (where), quand (when).”
“The structure is therefore as follows: interrogative word + Est-ce que + subject + verb + the rest of the sentence.

Pourquoi est-ce que tu aimes aller au cinéma ? : Why do you like going to the cinema?
Où est-ce que tu aimes aller pendant ton temps libre ? : Where do you like to go during your free time
